I remembered the thing, not where it was
I have worked at startups for most of my career, and I can usually remember the hint of what I need. The URL someone mentioned in a meeting. The email I meant to answer. The design I was reviewing before I got pulled into something else.
The problem is remembering what came before and after that hint. Remote work happens on a screen, and useful details disappear into the scroll of the day.
I started building Retrace on nights and weekends around a simple question: What if I could drag back through my workday and see the exact moment again?
Independent on purpose
Retrace has no investors and no ads. I fund the app, and subscriptions pay for the work.
That keeps the promise simple: build a useful Mac app, charge a clear price, and improve it for the people who use it.
Your screen stays yours
Your screen can contain messages, documents, and private details. Retrace encrypts your Timeline and stores it on your Mac.
Retrace does not upload your screen recordings, the text it reads from them, or your searches. You can choose apps not to record, decide how long recordings are kept, and lock Retrace.
Made for the Mac
Retrace is built for Macs with an M1 chip or later. I use a Mac every day, so I designed Retrace to feel fast, quiet, and familiar on macOS.
